About
We’re Sean and Kyle. We travel mostly to hike and explore the outdoors, though we also love wandering new cities. We’ve been walking hut-to-hut routes in the Alps for several years now, and we round those bigger trips out with day hikes and backpacking closer to home.
Most of our trips land in shoulder season—the quieter weeks on either side of peak. Part of that is by choice: traveling off-peak saves money and skips the crowds. Part of it is the academic calendar that shapes our year from Seattle, which sends us out over spring break in March, through the summer, and on long weekends chasing sun in autumn and winter. The result is a site weighted toward the trips, conditions, and tradeoffs you don’t find in peak-season coverage.
Over the years, friends and family asked for notes on our trips. We started this blog to share those notes, in hopes they help you plan or inspire your next exploration.
A few good places to start:
- Browse our trips by region, by activity, or by month if you’re planning around a specific window.
- Our packing lists are the most-used pages on the site: day hiking, backpacking, and hut-to-hut.
We use affiliate links on some posts, and recommend only gear we’ve actually carried and places we’ve actually stayed.
